Rolling Shutters

What are rolling shutters - Rolling shutters, sometimes called rolldowns or rollups, are a strong yet expensive type of Florida and Dade-County code approved hurricane shutter. They have a strong double walled aluminum curtain that travels up and down slim side tracks.  When not in use, the shutter curtain rolls up into a square housing above the opening.

Manual or Electric - When coupled with electric motors, an entire home can be closed at the touch of a button. Manual cranking rolldowns are also easy to operate and can be designed to crank from the inside or outside of a home. Internal springs are added to larger manual cranking rolling shutters to assist with the weight of the heavier shutter curtain.

Common applications - For upstairs windows that don’t open or for exit doors that swing out, rolling shutters can be the ideal solution. Along with windows and doors, rolldowns are frequently used to securely enclose entire patio areas.

If the power goes out - Manual cranking rolldowns and manual override cranks for motorized rolling shutters allow the shutter to be opened or closed even when electricity or backup power is not available.
